Our 25* NCAA-B Sweet Sixteen Total of the Year is with the Arkansas/Texas Tech over at 10:09 pm et.
The Arkansas Razorbacks won for the fifth time in their last six games in a 75-66 victory against St. John’s on Saturday. The 66 points the Red Storm scored were the fewest that the Razorbacks have given up in their last eleven games, Five of their previous nine opponents scored 77 or more points against them. There were only 68 possessions in that game. First-year head coach John Calipari has his team play at the 68th fastest pace in the country as they average 69.8 possessions per game. Six of their last nine games had 70 or more possessions for each team. Calipari expects to get leading scorer Adou Thiero back tonight from his knee injury. He is averaging 15.6 points per game. He has missed their last eight games. Injuries have held this team back. Boogie Fland missed fifteen games earlier in the year. Yet the Razorbacks may finally be as healthy as they have been all season. A silver lining to the recent absence of Thiero has been the development of Trevon Brazile and Jonas Aidoo as reliable scoring options. Brazile has registered four double-doubles in his last six games while making 12 of his 30 shots (40%) from the 3-point line. Aidoo had scored 14 or more points in four straight games before scoring seven points and adding seven rebounds against St. John’s. Arkansas has played ten of their last thirteen games over the number against opponents who are winning 60% to 80% of their games. They have played four of their last five games on a neutral court when the oddsmakers installed them as an underdog of up to six points or as a pick ‘em.
Texas Tech advanced to the Sweet Sixteen on Saturday with a 77-64 victory against Drake. They had scored 80 or more points in four of their last five games before falling short of that mark against the Bulldogs. The 64 points they gave up were the fewest scored on them in four straight games and seven of their last eight games. The Red Raiders are fifth in the country in offensive efficiency. The Razorbacks have a 41.5% defensive field goal percentage, yet Texas Tech has played six of their last eight games on the road over the number against opponents with a defensive field goal percentage of 42% or lower. Arkansas makes 46.4% of their shots, and the Red Raiders have played nine of their last eleven games over the total on the road against opponents who shoot 45% or better from the field. Texas Tech has played eight of their last ten games on the road over the number against opponents winning 60% to 80% of their games. All six of the Red Raiders tournament games this year have finished over the total. Play the over.
Good luck - Team Del Genio.
