At 9:45 pm, our complimentary selection is on the New York Mets over the San Francisco Giants. The Mets got the 2026 season off to a red-hot start, scoring 15 runs in their first two games -- both wins against the Pirates. But since then, the bats have gone quiet and they've managed just eight runs over the next four. They just lost two out of three against a bad Cardinals team. But the bright spot for New York has been the starting pitching, which so far has logged a 2.50 ERA (2nd in the NL) over six games. There's just too much talent on the offensive side to worry about a prolonged dry spell, despite the loss of Pete Alonso over the Winter (a FA signing by the Orioles). LHP David Peterson will get his second start of the season tonight. The 30-year-old was a bright spot for the Mets last season through July but faded badly in the last two months. It's April now and Peterson blanked the Pirates in his first start and will look to do the same tonight against a team that hasn't shown much offense this season (an MLB-worst 14 runs in six games for the Giants). Take New York. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.Get Free Picks, Big Game alerts, and Winning Info from our champion handicappers.
