Pinnacle on Maryland
Florida has the number 1 efficient offense according to KenPom, as they score 128.8 points per 100 possessions. However, that offense was tested a bit against UCONN even though the Huskies rank 81st in defense. Now Florida will be up against the 6th-ranked defense of Maryland who has thwarted the strong offenses of the BIG10 all season long. This, coupled with Florida’s softness from the charity stripe, will make it difficult to cover the 7-point spread. Additionally, even though Florida ranks well in the rebound department, the physicality edge will go to Maryland behind both their strong forwards. Furthermore, though Florida relies on their offense from behind the arc and mid-range, the strong defense presence of the Terrapin Guards will make that difficult. In fact, Maryland allows just a 41.3% rate from the field and a 30.2% rate from distance. The value here is with the points. Maryland +7.
