- Just when the Milwaukee Bucks appear to be getting things moving in the right direction, they enter tonight’s road tilt against Central Division-rival Cleveland at a huge disadvantage. As a result, they'll lose to the Cavaliers and even more ground in the division and conference standings.
Cleveland owns the best record in the NBA at 23-4 and boasts the best home mark thus far (14-1). For comparison's sake, the Bucks are just 4-7 on the road, which is the second-worst such record in the division.
The Cavaliers have rattled off two straight wins and won and covered in six of their last seven contests, and will be well-rested as they got a little extra time between games due to the NBA Cup schedule. It took down the Nets 130-101 Monday in Brooklyn in its last game.
Milwaukee, meanwhile, is fresh off its NBA Cup championship run, winning its fourth game in a row in a dominating 97-81 victory over Oklahoma City in the Cup title game Tuesday. Giannis Antetokoumnpo and Damian Lillard went for a combined 49 points, 23 rebounds and 14 assists.
However, the Bucks will be without Lillard and his 26.7 points and 7.1 assists per game for this one, as he nurses a right calf strain. Terrible timing with Kris Middleton recovering from a non-Covid-related illness that caused him to miss the OKC game. He’s listed as probable for tonight.
If history has a say, the Cavs are a lock to come out on top this time around as they’ve won their last three meetings with Milwaukee (2-1 ATS), including back-to-back victories over them this season, both in early November. The Bucks are severely shorthanded, so look for Cleveland to easily cover in this, its first game of a much-needed three-game homestand.
