- Analysis
- Indiana is coming into this game with an 11-1 record this season and they were 8-1 in their conference. Their only loss this season came on the road against Ohio State 38-15, but they bounced back in their last game of the season with a 66-0 win against Purdue. They have one of the better offenses in the country as they scored 40+ points in a majority of their games this season, and their defense has also been very good as well. They are going up against a Notre Dame team that is 11-1 this season and they have been on fire in their recent games. Their only loss this season came against Northern Illinois at home 16-14, but they have won their last 10 straight games since that loss and a majority of them have been blowouts. Their offense has been on fire recently as they have scored 49+ points in their last 2 straight as well as 4 of their last 5 games, but they face a similar problem that Indiana has faced with a very weak strength of schedule. Indiana lost badly to Ohio State, but they learned some things from that game that will help them out here while Notre Dame has not really been tested by a powerful team. Indiana has the physicality to matchup with Notre Dame in this game. Notre Dame also loves to run the ball and that will be a problem here as Indiana has one of the better run defenses in the country, allowing just 70.8 rushing yards per game and 2.5 yards per carry. Their pass defense has also been very good so it is not going to be easy for Notre Dame to move the ball, especially if they have to play from behind. Indiana also has a very good run game that they have been leaning on this season, and their passing game has been much better than Notre Dame as well. Indiana is still averaging 265.2 passing yards per game this season and their quarterback has been great, Kurtis Rourke completing over 70% of his passes this season. Indiana can match up with Notre Dame on both offense and defense, they have the team to hang around in this game and even win it. Indiana will cover the spread in this game.
