Analysis
#930 KANSAS CITY with Singer (-) over Chicago with Hendricks at 8:10 PM EST In a bad mood off a pair of home losses to the Diamondbacks, the Royals will have no trouble pounding the Cubs under the Friday night lights. Kansas City is resting in third place in the AL Central a frustrating 5.5-games back in the division and manager Matt Quatraro will have his boys ready to go. Hitting the hill for the "The Crowns" will be right-hander Brady Singer. So far this season, No. 51 has made 20 starts and been tripped for 37 earned runs and 101 hits in 111.0 innings of work. Brady whiffed 106 and walked 34 on his way to a 6-6 record with a respectable 3.00 ERA. Equally impressive, in his last six starts, Singer has been scratched for eight earned runs and 30 hits in 34.0 frames. That's good enough for a 2-2 mark with a strong 2.12 ERA. Aging right-hander Kyle Hendricks will counter for the visitors. With 18 appearances in the books this year including 13 starts, "The Professor" has been nailed for 56 earned runs and 88 hits in 75.1 innings. Kyle fanned 52 and issued 24 free passes on his way to a 2-8 tally with an ugly 6.69 ERA. Even worse, on foreign soil, Hendricks has been bombed for 23 earned runs and 32 hits in 45.0 frames. That adds up to a woeful 1-4 record with a hideous 7.08 ERA. On a technical note, Kansas City has tasted victory in 35 of its last 55 in its own backyard, 29 of its last 45 when facing a foe that holds a team won/loss percentage less than .500, and 47 of its last 85 matched up against a right-handed starter. Meanwhile, Chicago has fallen in 30 of its last 52 as a guest. The Royals have some work to do in the division and they simply can't afford home losses to a Cubs squad that is in cellar in the NL Central. Take Kansas City with Singer. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
