Season Record

San Jose State: 1-2 conf, 3-4 overall (Mountain West)
UNLV:  0-2 conf, 0-6 overall (Mountain West)

San Jose State isn’t having a great season.  They rarely do.  The San Jose Spartans never find themselves on ESPN unless they are on the losing end of another team's big win highlights. SJSU will want to win this game to keep from being embarrassed.

UNLV is functioning as college football’s crash test dummies.  They are 6 games into the season… 2 games into conference play, completely winless and maybe hopeless. The UNLV Runnin Rebels are a best bet anytime they play because we already know they won’t win the game… but they are 4-1 ATS… and will they contribute to the point total?... They had a close game last weekend against Utah State.

**FLASH SALE** Don't wait! Big Game Expert Ben Burns is a SWEET 17-8 with his past 25 "top rated" college football releases, 5-2 (71%) this month, entering Wednesday's action. His most recent won by more than four touchdowns. More of the same Friday, on ESPN. San Jose State vs UNLV Preview and Analysis

Recent Form
San Jose State has a few big losses on their record USC 30-7, Western Michigan 23-3, Colorado State 32-42…. And one close loss to the San Diego State Aztecs 19-13.  The three winning matchups were against New Mexico State (bad team) 37-31, Hawaii (bad team, in conference win) 17-13, and they blew out Southern Utah (small school, bad but plucky team) 45-14.

UNLV has six losses in six games.  Not all of them have been ugly, but they’ve all been losses.  Eastern Washington 35-33, Arizona State 37-10, Iowa State 48-3, Fresno State 38-30, UTSA 24-17, Utah State 28-24… If there are 2 bright spots in all this losing it is that UNLV hung 30 points on Fresno State….  also UTSA and Iowa State are really, really good football teams.

Offensive Analysis

San Jose State scores 19.4 ppg on 334.7 ypg.  It’s meager.  They are ranked 111th on offense out of 130 in the FBS.

UNLV scores 19.5 ppg on 290.3 ypg.  They score 0.1 more points per game than SJSU while gaining 44 less yards per game… It’s bleak.  They are ranked the 124th team on offense out of 130 in the FBS.

Defensive Analysis

Despite how meager San Jose State looks on offense… they shine on D.  The defense ranks 45th in the FBS.  They have given up 17 touchdowns on 350 yards per game.

UNLV is ranked 116th on defense in the FBS.  They have given up 27 touchdowns and 450 yards per game.  Any team is guaranteed to be winless if they average giving up 160 more ypg than their offense gets.
