49ers vs Cardinals Prediction

The current betting odds have the 49ers listed as a 4.5 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The 49ers haven't looked good in their games this season with their 6-10 record overall which has them at the bottom of the NFC West and eliminated from playoff contention. They have had a really rough season with a lot of injuries to key players and it definitely derailed their season, but they have still been trying to fight in these games even though they have nothing left to play for. They are coming off a 40-34 loss to the Lions in their last one and their offense looked really good in that game. Meanwhile, the Cardinals haven't looked good in their games this season with their 7-9 record overall which has them in 3rd place of the NFC West and also eliminated from playoff contention. They were leading the division at one point and looked like a good team early on, but they collapsed after their bye week and their offense has looked terrible in a lot of their games lately. They had a chance to play spoiler with the Rams last week, but they lost 13-9 and had a chance to win the game right at the end, but Kyler Murray threw an INT in the end zone which ended the game. Neither team has anything to play for in this game as it is a meaningless game, but the Cardinals can't be trusted with the way they have played lately while the 49ers at least have some pride and have been showing fight in their games. The best way to place a bet here is on the 49ers to cover the spread in this game.

49ers Cardinals Prediction:  Our NFL Pick for Sunday, January 5, 2025 (4:25 pm ET start time) is 49ers 27 Cardinals 13.

Notable Quotes

“We weren’t able to slow them down enough on defense. That’s a real good offense, but we still have to slow them down a little bit more. That was the difference in the game. We had to win in it in a shootout. I thought the difference was our two turnovers.” - Kyle Shanahan after his team’s loss against the Lions in their last game.

“The ball didn’t bounce our way. Got the ball at the end, thought we were going to win, and they made a good play. It stings because we’re there, but we’re not there. When we play our brand of ball, we can compete and beat everyone, but it doesn’t mean a lot.” - Jonathan Gannon after his team’s loss against the LA Rams in their last game.
