Jets vs 49ers Prediction

The current betting odds have the Jets listed as a 4.5 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Jets finished last season with a 7-10 record overall and things didn't really go their way. They were ready to start a new era in New York, but their new starting QB Aaron Rodgers went down on the 1st play and ended up being out for the season. Now Rodgers is back healthy for this season and the hype is back with this Jets team. The defense was improved under Saleh last season and they have weapons on the offense too, they just need a QB like Rodgers to utilize them to their full potential. Meanwhile, the 49ers were the best team in the NFC last season with their 12-5 record overall which won them the NFC West, but they are still dealing with the Super Bowl loss from last season. They have returned a lot of the players on both offense and defense so they will be a big threat in the NFC once again, but they could come out slow here. The team that loses in the Super Bowl usually has a bit of a down year the next season so the Jets have a chance to take advantage of them in this 1st game since that Super Bowl loss. The 49ers have a great defense and tons of weapons on offense, playing better in their home games too, but the Jets with their improved defense can cause some problems for Purdy and this offense. Rodgers will also be playing with something to prove since he didn't get a chance to last season with his new team, going down right away. Rodgers is also the key piece needed for this offense to have a chance against this 49ers defense and keep up with the points the 49ers offense can score at home. The best way to place a bet here is on the Jets to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“I mean, he is one of the best, and he's playing really well. You know I've said it, his arm is still 30, and he still has plenty of mobility to be able to create off schedule, which is the hallmark of his game." - Robert Saleh on Aaron Rodgers coming into this new NFL season.

"He's got enough tape out there that everyone has a good grasp of what Brock is, and that's a very good quarterback. The way he's built, the way his mind works, the way he works at things, how humble he is, usually any one of those situations only gets better with reps and being in more situations.” - Kyle Shanahan on Brock Purdy coming into this new NFL season.
