This has been a weird season to this point as we get through the second month of baseball season. It's been an unpredictable season so far, but our champion handicappers have been doing well all season. Get on board and join the ride. Brewers - Mets preview and analysis

Who would have thought the Milwaukee Brewers would have figured out how to hit a baseball? And it wasn't even the fact that they crushed a baseball. Milwaukee continued to crush baseballs over and over and over again, until they finally made the New York Mets cry essentially.

And that's exactly what happened on Wednesday when the Brewers absolutely destroyed the Mets by a final score of 10-2. Yes you found that out correctly. It was not the Mets that scored the ten runs and got the victory. It was the Milwaukee team that has been struggling so badly over the last few weeks that hasn't been able to get over the hump and in order to get over the hump, Milwaukee has had to lean on it's raining Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes to get them out of these types of jams.

"It's humbling, for sure," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said after winning his 564th game as a manager and breaking the Milwaukee record. "What I told the players, I feel a lot of gratitude for everything that they've contributed to. They do the heavy lifting and it's been fun to watch a great era of Brewer baseball."

"He's awesome," Milwaukee outfielder Christian Yelich said. "He grew up here, he played here and now he's winningest manager in Brewers history. A lot goes into that."

And man oh man did the Brewers give they race a ton of help on this day. Milwaukee scored seven runs in the fifth inning to push the game out of reach and hand the Mets what I would perceive to be a very rare home loss. New York is now just 20 out of 29 at home and me that is as impressive as anything else could possibly be.

The Mets had only five hits in this game with two of them coming from Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil. Pete Alonzo had no hits in four at bats, and the Mets went on to strike out 12 times in a rather unusual result.

Burnes, mind you, struck out eight over 6 innings of work to record it yet another victory in what was another dominant pitching performance from the guy considered to be the best pitcher in the entire National League.

"I was able to fill up the zone a little more," Burnes said. "We still had a couple of deep counts. Early they were trying to slap balls around, put balls in play and try to single me to death, but we were able to kind of bear down and get some of those swings and misses."

So yes kudos to the Brewers for showing they know how to win a baseball game, and at the same time prove that they are alive in this instance because it really is not the best of circumstances when the Brewers have to wait so long to get a surefire consistency in this group.

This team is not built to score 10 runs a game in any given instance. And that's where I believe things got out of hand in this game and could potentially get out of hand in this game if Tylor Megill is not able to stabilize this group.

Prediction

It'll be a chance for the Mets to bounce back, and I think they do in a huge way. Mets win 8-4
