Raiders vs Chargers Prediction

The current betting odds have the Chargers listed as a 3 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Chargers were terrible last season with their 5-12 record overall, but they were dealing with an injury to Justin Herbert which affected the team in a big way. Their biggest problem though was Brandon Staley and they addressed that at the end of last season by letting him go. Now they are starting the Jim Harbaugh era in LA and he is coming off a season which he won the National Championship at Michigan in college. Jim Harbaugh is coming from Michigan to coach the Chargers, but he is no stranger to coaching NFL teams as the last game he coached in the NFL was in the Super Bowl over a decade ago. He will be looking to improve this team a lot this season and he has already left his mark on the offense, but he is really there to fix this defense that Staley has squandered for years with good talent. This team has had the talent to be a Super Bowl contender for years, but now they can be a real threat with Harbaugh leading the charge. Meanwhile, the Raiders were 8-9 last season and they have been a bit of a disaster lately, but they started to right the ship at the end of the season with Pierce in charge. Pierce has really won over that locker room and it has shown on the field, but they still lack talent on the roster. They have Davante Adams but he is unhappy, and now they have Minshew as their starter. Minshew has been a solid QB in the NFL, but there is a reason he keeps moving from team-to-team with his inconsistencies. The Chargers have a lot to prove with their new head coach and after going 5-12 last season, finishing last in the division, they will be looking to come out strong and challenge the Chiefs for the AFC West this season. The best way to place a bet here is on the Chargers to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“We’re probably not going to be, to be honest, a juggernaut offense. Would I love to be? Yeah. To sit here and say we’re going to score 30 points a game, that’s not realistic.” - Antonio Pierce on his team coming into this new NFL season.

"The narrative that I'm hard to get along with or whatever other narrative out there is, that's just people's narrative. Nobody's ever doubted where my heart is every single time: what's in the best interest of the team that I am on." - Jim Harbaugh on his mindset coming into this new NFL season.
