They started their season off on the right foot with a win over the South Dakota Coyotes but that quickly faded as they went on to lose their next 3 games against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, the Baylor Bears, and to Duke in their last game. Jason Bean had an alright game in their last one but he also struggled at times in that game. He completed 19/32 passes for 323 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Devin Neal had a good day in the run game for them with 107 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 17 carries as he led the team in that department. The receiving corps also had a great day as Trevor Wilson led the receivers with 122 yards on 5 receptions while Kwamie Lassiter II was right behind him with 99 yards and 1 TD on 4 receptions. Kenny Logan led the defense with 8 solo tackles and 3 assisted ones while Rich Miller also put up a great performance with 7 solo tackles and 7 assisted ones. No one on the defense was able to record a sack in that game but Ra'Mello Dotson did come away with the only interception for his team in that one. They have scored 79 points in their first 4 games and they have allowed their opponents to score 160 points against them. Will McDonald and Eyioma Uwazurike both had 1 sack each in that game but no one on the defense came up with an interception. They have scored 110 points in their first 4 games and they have allowed their opponents to score 69 points against them. Their offense is averaging 411.5 YPG while their defense is allowing 216.8 YPG.

 

Kansas is a very bad team and they were not able to even stay competitive in their first conference game of the season losing to Baylor 45-7, and that game was at home for them. Iowa State will be angry from losing such a close game to Baylor last week and now they get to go home and host a struggling Kansas side. Iowa State will be taking their anger out in this game while also looking for their first conference win this year. They will likely blow Kansas out here at home so the best bet to place here is on Kansas to cover the spread.

Iowa State Cyclones: Xavier Hutchinson is one player to watch in this game. He leads his team in receiving yards. He was quiet in their last game when they lost to Baylor and that is probably a reason why they did lose so look for him to make some big catches in this game and help his team get a win here.
