Jayhawks vs Chanticleers Prediction

The Kansas Jayhawks are sitting in 8th place of the Big 12 conference with a 1-0 record. They won their first matchup of the regular season in a tight game 17-14 over South Dakota. Jason Bean played a good game in that one completing 17/26 passes for 163 yards and 2 touchdown passes. He also led his team in rushing yards in that game with 54 yards on 15 carries. Mason Fairchild led the receivers with 58 yards on 4 receptions averaging 14.5 yards per catch. Trevor Wilson also had a decent outing with 50 yards on 5 receptions. Lawrence Arnold only came away with 33 yards receiving but he also caught 2 touchdowns in that one. Kyron Johnson and Gavin Potter led the way for the defense with 6 tackles each but Johnson came away with the only sack of the game.

CCU are coming into this game sitting in 2nd place of the Sun Belt Group A with a 1-0 record. The Chanticleers crushed Citadel in their first game of the season 52-14. Grayson McCall played a great game completing 16/19 passes for 262 yards and 1 touchdown. The backups, Bryce Carpenter and Jarrett Guest, also got some action near the end and Carpenter even threw for a touchdown in the game. Shermari Jones led the team in rushing with 100 yards and 2 touchdowns on 9 carries. Reese White also had a good game rushing with 62 yards and 2 touchdowns. Even Braydon Bennett found the end zone on the ground in that one. Jaivon Heiligh led the receivers with 133 yards on 6 receptions and 1 touchdown. Xavier Gravette also found the end zone with 54 receiving yards in that one. C.J. Brewer led the defense with 4 solo tackles and 5 assisted tackles but none of the defenders were able to get any sacks in the game.

Kansas plays in a much tougher conference but this is a good CCU on both offense and defense. The Jayhawks have been struggling for years and the Chanticleers only finished with 1 loss last season. They will want to continue their path to winning the Sun Belt. The Jayhawks struggled against a bad South Dakota team last week only putting up 17 points while CCU was able to destroy their opponents. The Chanticleers will cover this spread in another blowout win for them.

Players to Watch

Kansas Jayhawks: Jason Bean is one player to watch for the Jayhawks in this game. He is the starting QB and also led the team in rushing in their last game. There will be a lot of stress on him to make the plays in this game if Kansas has any chance of putting up a good fight against CCU.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers: C.J. Brewer is one player to watch in this game. The Chanticleers’ defense should be able to shut down Kansas in this one and he led their team in tackles and assisted tackles last game. No one on the team recorded a sack though so look for him to keep up the great work on defense and possibly find the QB if he gets the chance.

Notable Quotes
