Season Record

Royals: 20-38, 5th place (LAST) AL Central
Giants: 30-26, 3rd place NL West

An inter-conference matchup between the worst of the Al Central and the 3rd place team of the NL West.  The conferences are one thing… but the divisions are another.  The Royals are terrible in what may be the easiest division in baseball.  The Giants are 3rd in what may be the toughest division in baseball.  Not really a contest.  The great betting opportunity is obvious…. And when we check the numbers it will become more obvious.

The Kansas City Royals have won only 4 of the last 10 games.  Going 5 Over and 5 Under.  They are not in control of winning or losing.  They rely heavily on someone else having a bad game.  Or on the chance that they run into another bad team given the awful division they play out of.  They went 2-1 against the Baltimore Orioles, 1-2 against the Toronto Blue Jays, 1-2 against the Houston Astros, and 0-1 against the Cleveland Indians during that stretch.  If you notice the pattern…. They never win opening games against better teams.  You can make that $$$.

The San Francisco Giants have won 5 of their last 10- games. They have beaten up on the Los Angeles Dodgers with one Dodgers game left to play.  They are 2-0 against the Dodgers, 1-2 against the Colorado Rockies, 2-2 against the Miami Marlins, and 0-1 against the Philadelohia Phillies.  They went 3 Over, 5 Under and 2 Push.

Scott Rickenbach is 8-3 in the last 7 days of mlb picks for a profit of +$4,650… 25-15 over the last 30 days for a profit of +$8,270… You could have been following along.... Kansas City Royals vs San Francisco Giants Preview and Analysis

RECENT FORM

The Giants are 30-25 on the season, 30-23-2 O/U, while being 14-12 in home games.

Offensive Analysis

The Royals are 27th in runs scored with 3.83 per game, 19th in batting average with .239, and 22nd in OBP with .302.

The Giants are 3rd in scoring with 5.05 runs per game, 15th in batting average with .242, and 6th in OBP with .323.

Defensive Analysis

The Royals pitchers are 28th in ERA with 5.11, 29th in WHIP with 1.50, and 9th in fielding errors with 27 so far.  They are not great at being good… in fact they are great at being terrible. They are only good at fielding errors because you can not get errors when the ball flies over your head every inning.

The Giants Pitchers are 22nd in ERA with 4.25, 19th in WHIP with 1.29, and 11th in fielding errors with 27 on the season so far.

Kansas City Royals vs San Francisco Giants Prediction

Our prediction for Tuesday, June 14th is….  Giant 7 - Royals 2

Follow the bet on the Giants in Game 1 with a bet on the Giants in Game 2.  I expect a Giants win… Vegas really expects a Giants win… The numbers expect a Giants win.  It’s still baseball and anyone can get hot and steal a game.  However the Royals look like the coldest team around.

MLB Betting Trends

The Giants are 91-44 when playing a team with a losing record the last 3 seasons.
The Giants are 165-108 versus teams that average more than 7 strikeouts per game (the Cubs have that number beat by a few) the last 3 seasons.
The Royals are 1-10 as an underdog of +175 - +250.

Key Injuries
Royals: C C Ghallagher (hamstring) Out ** CF E Olivares (quad) Out

Giants: 1B Brandon Belt (knee) Out ** CF Steven Duggar (elbow) Out

Players To Watch

Royals: LHP Kris Bubic, 0-3, 9.13 ERA, 18 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched.  2.03 WHIP.  The 24 year old has numbers SO BAD that they seem like a bad set-up to a joke with no punchline you could say in mixed company.  He should get ready to be sent back down for more work.  He also should be ready to maybe never get called up again.

Giants: RHP Logan Webb, 5-2, 3.77 ERA, 59 strikeouts in 71 innings pitched.  1.19 WHIP.  This 25 year old is making a claim to be his rotation’s ACE.  He went to “Rocklin High School” in Rocklin California.  It is terribly disappointing that he does not have long hair.

Starting Lineups

Royals: 2B Whit Merrifield, LF Andrew Benintendi, DH Salvador Perez, C MJ Melendez, 1B Hunter Dozier, CF Michale A Taylor, RF Kyle Isbel, 3B Emmanuel Rivera, SS Nicky Lopez

Giants: RF Luis Gonzalez, CF Mike Yastremski, 3B Wilmer Flores, LF Joc Pederson, 1B Darin Ruf, DH Tommy La Stella, 2B Thairo Estrada, SS Donovan Walton, C Curt Casali

MANAGER

Royals: Mike Matheny
Giants: Gabe Kapler

Weather Forecast

Yet another Sunny day in San Francisco 74*, Humidity 50%, wind at 17 mph.  A nice warm week for baseball by the bay.
