NBA basketball is a funny thing.  Some teams stay good for decades, some teams stay bad for decades… Yet most teams are on a yo-yo string bouncing back and fourth.  The difference between the good and bad is all about great players.  If your team has one (or two, or three) the bad years are always a draft pick or winning trade away from being good to great again.  The Warriors are great because of Stephen Curry and his 3-pointers.  They are also great because of Draymond Green and his defense.  Soon they will be great because Klay Thompson has returned from injury… but even if he is never 100% again… they will stay great because of the picks and trades the Warriors made while Klay was hurt and they had two down years.  The Chase Center is a brand new, state of the art venue… and it is being filled with a great team that went down the yo-yo string of mediocrity and popped right back up without hanging around to walk the dog. This coming game will be about one thing… we will hold our breath with all the Steph Curry 3-point attempts as he is poised to tie, break , and set anew the Ray Allen mark of most 3-pointers made all time.  Steph will then go on to set a mark that will not be broken in my lifetime as he has years left on his career.

The Indiana Pacers are a bad NBA team.  They have a solid star in Domantas Sabonis and a solid PG in Malcolm Brogdon… they just aren’t yet balanced and have been waiting for full health all year. G Victor Oladipo has only recently returned from missing a year to health issues… the bench is thinner than any NBA team would want.  Also calling Sabonis a star isn’t in the same universe as calling Steph a star.  The Pacers just got their third straight win on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks with the New York Knicks before that and the Washington Wizards before that… The Pacers were underdogs ATS in all 3 games.

Indiana is 12-16 on the season, but 14-13-1 ATS.  They have notched 13 Overs and 15 Unders.  They are 9-6 in home games.  Their last loss was to the Miami Heat on Friday Dec 3rd.  They are in the midst of their best week all season.

Offensive Analysis

The Warriors are 3rd in points per game with 112.5, 3rd in rebounds with 46.9 per game, and 10th in AST/TO ratio with 1.8.  They are shooting the lights out 3rd in FG%, 6th in 3PT%,... the one place where they stub their toe is at the free throw line where they are 21st in the league with a poor 75.8%.

The Pacers are 14th in points per game with 108.1 per game, 11th in rebounds with 45.4 per game, and 15th in AST/TO ratio with 1.7.  They are shooting 13th in FG%, 24th in 3PT%, and 13th in FT%. They are 5-5 over their last ten games.  That is the best ten game stretch all season.
