Broncos vs Jaguars Prediction

The Denver Broncos are taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday for week 2 of the NFL. The Broncos have a 1-0 record coming into this game while the Jaguars are 0-1 to start the season. The Broncos are a 6 point favorite in this game with the total set at 45 right now.

The Denver Broncos are coming into this game after winning their first game of the season on the road against the New York Giants with a final score of 27-13. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater played a great game last week completing 28/36 for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns. Melvin Gordon also had a good day in the running game rushing for 101 yards and 1 touchdown on 11 carries. Jerry Jeudy led the receivers with 72 yards but suffered an injury in that game which caused him to make an early exit. Noah Fant and KJ Hamler will have to pick up some of that slack on the receiving end in this game. Ronald Darby, Justin Simmons, and Kyle Fuller all led the defense with 6 solo tackles each in that game. No one on the defense recorded a sack or an interception in that game. Denver's offense put up 27 points and only allowed 13 in what was a very strong showing from them on Sunday.

The Jaguars are coming into this game after losing their first game of the regular season on the road against the Houston Texans 37-21. Rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence made his NFL debut while his head coach Urban Meyer also made his debut for the team and for coaching at the NFL level. Lawrence really struggled in that game completing 28/51 passes for 332 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. They did not do much at all in the run game as Carlos Hyde led the way with 44 rushing yards on 9 carries. D.J. Chark led the receivers with 86 yards and 1 touchdown on 3 grabs while Marvin Jones was right behind him with 77 yards and 1 touchdown as well. Myles Jack led Jacksonville’s defense with 6 solo tackles and 3 assisted ones while Rayshawn Jenkins had 6 solo tackles as well. Josh Allen recorded the only sack in the game for his team while no one on this defense had an interception in the game. The Jaguars put up 21 points and allowed their opponents 37 in a game where they had come into it as a 3 point favorite, losing by almost 20 points in the end.

The Broncos looked very good in the preseason and continued that great play into their first game of the regular season. The Jags were supposed to be good this year and took a big flop in week 1 totally changing the narrative of their season. The Jags are a home underdog here and they will likely lose again by a lot as the Broncos defense shuts them down and covers the spread in this one.

Key Injuries

Denver Broncos:  J. Jeudy (WR) Mid Oct - Leg injury. R. Darby (CB) Out indefinitely - Hamstring injury. B. Chubb (LB) Ques Sun - Ankle injury.

Players to Watch

Denver Broncos: Noah Fant is one player to watch in this game. He had a decent game in week 1 and now with some of their receivers out he will need to step up here and give Bridgewater a good target to throw to. Look for him to make some big catches in key moments of the game.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence is one player to watch here. He finally got a taste of the NFL as a starter in week 1 and he will be looking to follow up with a much better performance here. He threw a lot of interceptions in that game so look for him to cut down on those and play a smarter game as he will need to lead this offense if they want to win the game.

Notable Quotes

"I saw a guy in total control and when he had to improvise, he did. Some of those were on big, big plays. He's been doing that his entire career when he's been a player. He showed it today." - Vic Fangio on Teddy Bridgewater after their win in the season opener.

"Losing is always hard, especially when you feel like you are prepared and had a great week. I really think we were ready and obviously didn't play well. It starts with me. I didn't play well, for sure. I played really bad." - Trevor Lawrence on his first ever start as an NFL quarterback.
