Appalachian State Mountaineers:  lost on the road on Oct. 12 against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 41-13.

 

 

 

CCU is coming into this game with a 6-0 record overall and they are 2-0 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. This will be their 3rd conference matchup of the year and they are already off to a great start with a 2-0 record in their conference games this season. Their 2 wins came against Louisiana-Monroe and Arkansas State. They are coming into this game on a 6 game winning streak this season but they have won their last 3 games by more than 20 points in each. Grayson McCall had a great game in their last one as he completed 18/23 passes for 365 yards and 4 touchdowns. Shermari Jones had a very nice day on the ground as he led the team in rushing with 113 yards and 1 touchdown on 10 carries. Bryce Carpenter also had a nice day as he rushed for 82 yards and 1 touchdown on 5 carries while Reese White was right behind him with 81 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 6 carries. Isaiah Likely had a massive day for the receiving corps as he led the team in receiving with 232 yards and 4 touchdowns himself in that game on 8 receptions. Jaivon Heiligh also had 5 catches for 74 yards in that one. Silas Kelly led the defense with 5 solo tackles and 1 assisted one while Teddy Gallagher was right behind with 4 solo tackles and 1 assisted one. Kelly along with Jeffrey Gunter both led the defense in sacks with 1.5 each in that game and C.J. Brewer also recorded one as well. Brewer was the only one on the defense who came away with an interception in that game. They have scored 293 points in their first 6 games averaging 48.8 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 90 points against them allowing 15 PPG. That loss snapped a 3 game winning streak that they were on and they were absolutely dominated from the start in that game. Chase Brice had an awful game as he completed 15/27 passes for 135 yards and 2 interceptions. Nate Noel led the team in rushing with 40 yards on 17 carries but they basically had no running game in that one. Malik Williams led the receivers with 38 yards on 6 receptions in what was a very quiet day for the receiving corps. Overall, it was a very bad day for the offense as they only managed to score 13 points in that game. Kaiden Smith led the defense in that one with 7 solo tackles and 3 assisted ones while Steven Jones Jr. was right behind with 5 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones. Nick Hampton recorded the only sack in that game for the defense but it was Jones Jr. who came away with the only interception for them in that one. They have scored 189 points in their first 6 games averaging 31.5 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 141 points against them allowing 23.5 PPG. Their offense is averaging 436.3 YPG while their defense is allowing 379.8 YPG.

 

APP State did not look good at all in their last game as they were smashed by ULL from the start and never really had a chance in that game as they just kept making bad mistakes in that game. Coastal Carolina has cruised past every team they have played this year except for 1, but that was a few weeks ago and they look like they have been hitting their stride recently. They have won their last 3 games by over 20 points in each and they have scored over 40 points in almost every game this season. CCU is just a better team and is ranked in the top 25 for a reason. The best bet to place in this game is on CCU to cover the spread here.

They will need their run game to be good in this one to get past this App State defense so look for him to get a lot of touches in this game and set the tone early here.

 

Appalachian State Mountaineers: Camerun Peoples is one player to watch here. He leads his team in touchdowns scored this season. His team did absolutely nothing on offense last week and will be looking to play a much better game here. He can be a real big threat with the ball in his hands, especially around the goal line so look for him to find the end zone in this game and help his team score.
