Boise State vs Oregon Prediction

The current betting odds have Boise State listed as a 20 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Boise State won their season opener on the road against Georgia Southern in a very high scoring game. Their defense was terrible, giving up 45 points, but their offense was rolling with 56 points scored to win the game. They also had over 300 yards rushing in that one so the run game is going to be a big part of their game plan here. Meanwhile, Oregon won their season opener at home against a team from the FCS, but they didn't look like the same team that was blowing teams out last season. They only beat Idaho 24-14 and struggled to put the ball in the endzone. They have a new starting QB this season with Dillon Gabriel who was great at Oklahoma last season, but he had trouble punching the ball in the endzone last year and those troubles have followed him to Oregon. He put up a ton of offense against Idaho, making 49 pass attempts and throwing for 380 yards, but only had 24 points to show for it. This was a problem at Oklahoma last season as a lot of their drives would stall after moving the ball downfield and they would end up settling for field goals. Oregon is going to have no trouble moving the ball in this game with the way Boise State was giving up points last week, and that is going to help Oregon's offense put points on the board too, but Boise State also showed they have a really good offense that can move the ball efficiently on the ground and they are going to bring their best effort for a team like Oregon. Boise State won't be much of a threat to win this game with their defense, but their offense can certainly put up points and will do enough to keep this game within the number since Oregon only won their season opener at home last week by 10 points against a team from the FCS. The best way to place a bet here is on Boise State to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"My message to our team is all about how we grow from week one to week two. We know the opponent that we're playing. They're going to be one of the most talented teams we’ve faced in a while... our guys are going to be ready for the task. We understand it's going to be a tall task. We have to earn the right to be successful on Saturday with how we prep today and tomorrow, how we practice this week, so that we go on Saturday when the nation's watching. I believe, like I talked about, are we willing to work in the dark, so when the lights are on, on Saturday, we're ready." - Spencer Danielson after his team’s win against GASO in their last game.

“Different than we thought it would look like. Great teams are able to learn from tight matches. This was a tight match, and we didn't create some of the explosive plays I was hoping we could create offensively. Gave up a couple of critical plays on defense. So certainly some things to attack.” - Dan Lanning after his team’s win against Idaho in their last game.
