The Spartans ended a two-game losing streak with their 34-31 win against Stanford as a 2.5-point favorite on November 29th. They ended the regular season with a 7-5 record. Wide receiver Nick Nash and center Hudson Mesa are opting out of this game to prepare for the NFL draft. Starting cornerbacks D.J. Harvey and Michael Dansby along with backup quarterback Emmett Brown headline the players not playing in this game after entering the transfer portal.
The Bulls had won two games in a row before their 35-28 upset loss at Rice as a 5.5-point favorite on November 30th. They go into this game with a 6-6 record.
