Vanderbilt vs Missouri Prediction

The current betting odds have Vanderbilt listed as a 21 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Vanderbilt has a 2-1 record overall this season and they have been a bit of a mixed bag so far. They looked good in their 2 wins this season, even pulling off an upset win over Virginia Tech, but they are coming off a bad road loss to Georgia State in their last one. They will be looking to bounce back in this first conference game of the season though and they do have a much improved team from last season. Meanwhile, Missouri has looked really good in their games this season with their 3-0 record overall, but they haven't really been blowing teams out. They won their season opener 51-0 against a team from the FCS and then beat Buffalo 38-0, but those are both much weaker teams in strength and as good as their defense was against Buffalo, the offense didn't really have an explosion. They are coming off another win at home last week but they were finally tested against a better team and didn't really blow them out. They were in control of the game with a lead for most of the time, but they still only beat Boston College 27-21, even allowing them to come back with a late score. This is the first conference game of the season for both teams here and Vanderbilt does have a much improved offense this season so they are going to put up points in this game and even if Missouri has a bigger lead, there could be a backdoor cover with Vandy coming back late in the game. This is just too many points for Missouri in their first conference game. The best way to place a bet here is on Missouri to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"I think we maybe punched beyond expectations early, not internal expectations, but external. And that's fine. We can't allow that external perception to drive anything that we do. But I think sometimes you get distracted by your own success, and again, we have a good team, but we're not good enough to play a distracted game." - Clark Lea after his team’s loss against GA State in their last game.

“Was not pretty, wasn’t our best performance top to bottom but really responded. We hadn’t been challenged all year and (I) was concerned with so many new faces about what that response would be. Today I think you saw a team that’s committed to each other, a team that responds, a team that’s never out of the fight.” - Eli Drinkwitz after his team’s win against BC in their last game.
