South Florida vs Alabama Prediction

The current betting odds have Alabama listed as a 31 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Alabama looked great in their season opener with a 63-0 win over Western Kentucky. That was DeBoer's 1st game as head coach taking over for Nick Saban and he impressed on both offense and defense, considering how they were against a competent FBS team that does pretty well in their own conference each year. Milroe only completed 7/9 passes, but he threw for 200 yards and was very efficient as a passer. They also have a really strong running game and a good defense too. Meanwhile, South Florida also looked great in their season opener with a 48-3 win, but they were at home against a team from the FCS and they don't have the talent that this Alabama team has at their disposal. This was a game that Alabama struggled with last season, barely beating South Florida 17-3, but as bad as their offense was in that game, their defense held up by only giving up 3 points on the road. Now they are going to be at home in a much tougher environment for USF to play in so their offense is going to struggle to put up points. That game was also at the beginning of last season when Alabama didn't have their act fully together, but they got better on offense as the season went on and now they have a new head coach that is unlocking things not seen in this offense last season. Alabama has a lot to prove this season with Saban gone so they won't be taking any of these games against weaker teams lightly. The best way to place a bet here is on Alabama to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"The crowd noise is going to be a factor. You prepare to the point where you make it a non-factor for players on the field and their communication. You've got to do a really good job as a team making it literally about the football game and solely that.” - Alex Golesh on his team’s upcoming game against Alabama this week.

“He gave me a call on Thursday and that was really cool for the guys. He wanted me to pass along that he’s thinking about them and wishing them the best and was gonna be rooting for them. You can just tell how much he cares, not just about the program but the individuals within it. Wanted to make sure I passed that along because I think that was important for them to hear, important for both ends.” - Kalen DeBoer on what Nick Saban said to him before their season opener against WKU.
