Season Record

Saints: 3-2 2nd place NFC South
Seahawks: 2-4 4th place NFC West

These two teams have struggled mightily this season.  The Seahawks are winless ATS. Every Seattle game has finished with more than 43 points this season. It doesn’t mean Seattle is doing the scoring. QB Russell Wilson is out with injury…. Without him they are 5-point underdogs in the only game they should win outright and cover according to NFL odds.  The NFL week 7 matchup is here… let’s make some cash.

Last Sunday saw AAA go 4-1 in NFL! Included in that impressive performance was a win with the Over in Cardinals-Browns. Then, for good measure, they hit the Over in Bills-Titans on MNF! That play was a winner in the 3rd quarter! Now AAA is kicking off Week 7 with what will be the *TOP* O/U bet for the week! They are 23-12 L35 totals (in all sports!)… It's available right now at the Shop Picks page, where you can find all of the Best Bets from our champion sports handicappers.

New Orleans Saints vs Seattle Seahawks Preview and Analysis

Recent Form
The New orleans Saints have been all over the map this season.  Winning big against the Green Bay Packers 38-3, Losing big to the Carolina Panthers 26-7, beating the well coached New England Patriots 28-13, losing in overtime to the untalented New York Giants 27-21, and beating the lowly Washington Football Team 33-22 (something every team should do). They had a bye week in week six, so they could take this all in and reassess.  The problem isn’t their record which isn’t great and it isn’t terrible… The problem has been the shockingly different performances. They have been up and down more than a yo-yo.  They haven’t gone on a two game streak in either direction all season… maybe they miss Drew Brees?

The Seahawks are 6 games into a disappointing season.  Coach Pete Carroll has few answers and now that Russell Wilson is out with a badly damaged finger, Pete has noone to bail the Seahawks out.  They opened the season with a win over the Indianapolis Colts 28-16, then lost two straight to the Tennessee Titans 33-30 in overtime and the Minnesota Vikings 30-17.  They won for the second and last time so far against the San  Francisco 49ers 28-21.  Then they lost two straight again to the Los Angeles Rams 26-17 and the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-20 in overtime.  The Rams game is when Russel Wilson smashed his finger and signaled a long, difficult, lost season.

Offensive Analysis

The Saints stats point to a sputtering offense.  They are ranked 28th in the NFL on offense scoring 25.4 ppg on 295.2 ypg.  They have a very unusual setup at quarterback.  Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill have both been in and out of the offense doing different things with different sets of skills.  The result is ugly.  Neither guy has developed into the team’s leader and neither guy has gotten to feel like the Saints starting quarterback.  Taysom Hill got concussed in the last game they played back in week 5 and is questionable for this game… That could be good news for both Jameis Winston and the team.

The Seahawks are ranked 22nd on offense in the NFL.  Russell Wilson was not having a great year and now he is out with a broken finger.. No One's expecting the Seahawks stats to recover with Geno Smith at the helm, but he’s playing with full effort and a little veteran savvy.  Seattle is scoring 23.3 ppg on 344 ypg.

Defensive Analysis

The Saints are ranked 15th in the NFL on defense.  They have given up 18.2 points per game and 354 yards per game.  They particularly excel at run defense having given up only 79 rushing yards per game for the league’s best mark…. Of course that could only mean it is too easy to throw on them (they give up 275 ypg passing) for the opposing offensive coordinators to waste plays with the run.

The Legion of Boom is long gone from Seattle.  Seattle had to pay Russ and failed to draft well in the years since coming one play short of winning a second Super Bowl.  Pete Carroll has been in charge of the drafting and he should be thanked on his way out the door at the end of this season.  Seattle is ranked dead last in the NFL on defense giving up 24.8 ppg and 433.2 ypg.  They five up twice as many rushing yards as New Orleans (140) and 20 more passing yards (292.3) per game. In light of these numbers their record of 2-4 after six games is actually great… they pulled out two wins!! This is why Jameis will have maybe the best game of his season on Monday Night.  It’s why the inconsistent Saints are favored by 4.5 - 5.5 (and that is smaller than it should be).

Saints:  WR Deonte Harris (hamstring) Quest *  QB Taysom Hill (concussion) Quest

Seahawks:  QB Russell Wilson (finger) Out * G Damien Lewis (shoulder) Quest * DE Darrell Taylor (shoulder) Out * RB Alex Collins (hip) Quest

Players to Watch

Saints:  QB Jameis Winston.  Taysom is not taking practice reps after his concussion… he should be out for this one even if he is cleared to play this weekend before the game.  Jameis will have a full game against a bad defense to try and make his mark.  He should finally shine.

Seahawks:  QB Geno Smith.  He won’t win, but he is fun to watch.  He took the Steelers to overtime on effort alone.  It’s a shame his career flamed out so early…. If he had been given more time in New York… it may have worked out…. After all nothing the Jets have tried since has been worth a damn.

Starting Lineups

Saints:  QB Jameis Winston, RB Alvin Kamara, WR Marquez Callaway, WR Ty Montgomery, WR Kenny Stills, TE Adam Trautman, FB Alex Armah, LT Terron Armstead, LG Andrus Peat, C Erik McCoy, RG Cesar  Ruiz, RT Ryan Ramczyk

Coaches:
Saints:  Sean Payton.  Sean is still there.  Sean won a Super Bowl with the Saints in 2009 and 3 NFC Championships 2006, 2009, 2018.  Although he was suspended for the entire 2012 season because of “bountygate”.  Will he ever get another shot at a ring?... No, not with this group.

Seattle:  Pete Carroll.  Pete took the job as Head coach of the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 to get ahead of the total collapse of USC where he was a National Championship winner.  He has since won a Super Bowl and lost another.  Will he get another Super Bowl?.. Not until he relinquishes personnel decisions to someone else… so no he won’t.
