The Clippers lost their season opener against the Golden State Warriors as Stephen Curry rained 8 3-pointers down on them during yet another 40 point performance.  Shot after shot the Clippers got to watch what a max contract, great player looks like.  The Clippers have 2 Max contract superstars and felt the need to add Eric Bledsoe in the offseason.  It will be a long year.  Now the Clippers must prepare for their home opener at Staples Center. 

The Grizzlies won their season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers 132-121.  Ja Morant was the star as usual 37 pts, 6 asts, new center Steven Adams, who came over from New Orleans in a swap for Jonas Valanciunas, got 14 rebounds.  All in all it was typical Grizzlies basketball with a great individual performance from Ja and some incredible blocked shots from young PF Jaren Jackson Jr (4).

Grizzlies:  Taylor Jenkins.  Taylor has worked his way up through the ranks.  He didn’t play basketball after high school.  Instead he went to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  From there interning at the spurs, from there assistant coach of the Austin Toros, then head coach of the Austin Toros, then assistant coach with Atlanta hawks, then Assistant with Milwaukee Bucks… then the head job with the Memphis Grizzlies. The trip up the pipeline took 14 years. 1 year shorter than Sam Cassell’s 15 year NBA playing career… Sam has been an assistant coach for the last 11 years… Both Taylor Jenkins and Sam Casselll are 6 foot 3 inches tall.

Clippers:  Tyronne Lue is back for another year at the helm.  Again he’ll have to try to figure out some wins without star Kahwi Leonard… in fact he’ll have to figure out a lot.  The starters for the LA Clippers and the whole roster seem to get upended every offseason in the never ending pursuit of a group good enough and healthy enough to win…. The Western Conference.   Ty has his work cut out for him again.
