LSU Tigers Analysis

LSU is coming into this game with a 4-4 record overall and they are 1-3 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. This will be their 6th conference matchup of the year and they are in a very bad position right now with a 2-3 record in their conference games this season. They have lost 3 of their last 4 games coming into this one and they are coming off of a loss in their last game against Ole Miss. LSU took an early lead in the first quarter of that game but they then allowed Ole Miss to score 31 unanswered points against them to take the lead and go on to win that game. Max Johnson did not have a good game in that one as he completed 13/21 passes for 146 yards and 1 interception while Garrett Nussmeier played better at the quarterback position but still not great as he completed 7/12 passes for 103 yards and 1 touchdown. Tyrion-Davis Price led the team in rushing in that game with 53 yards and 1 touchdown on 17 carries while Corey Kiner had 49 yards on 10 carries but that was their entire ground game between those two. Jaray Jenkins led the receivers with 52 yards on 4 receptions while Trey Palmer had 49 yards on 3 receptions. Malik Nabers caught the only touchdown pass in that game for his team in what was a pretty quiet day for the receiving corps. Damone Clark led the defense in that game with 7 solo tackles and 12 assisted ones along with 1 sack as well. He along with Neil Farrell Jr. and Glen Logan all led the defense in sacks with 1 each while no one on the defense came away with an interception for them in that one. They have scored 244 points in their 8 games this season averaging 30.5 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 230 points against them allowing 28.8 PPG. Their offense is averaging 382.1 YPG while their defense is allowing 410.1 YPG.

Alabama Crimson Tide Analysis

Alabama is coming into this game with a 7-1 record overall and they are 4-0 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. This will be the 6th conference matchup on their schedule this year and they are leading the way right now with a 4-1 record in their conference games this season. They only have 1 loss all season against the Texas A&M Aggies and are coming into this game out of their bye week on a 2 game winning streak since losing that game. They won their last game against Tennessee 52-24 in a game that was close in the first half and a little bit into the second half but it was not until the Alabama offense exploded in the fourth quarter scoring 28 points and winning that game soundly. Bryce Young played a good game in that one as he completed 31/43 passes for 371 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brian Robinson Jr. had a nice day on the ground as he led the team in rushing with 107 yards and 3 touchdowns on 26 carries while Young also carried the ball 10 times for 42 rush yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Jameson Williams had a nice day as he led the receivers with 123 yards on 6 receptions while John Metchie was right behind him with 121 yards and 2 touchdowns on 11 receptions in what was a very nice day for the receiving corps. Will Anderson Jr. led the defense in that game with 5 solo tackles and 3 assisted ones. He also led the defense in sacks in that game with 1.5 while Jalyn Armour-Davis came away with the only interception for them in that one. They have scored 367 points in their 8 games this season averaging 45.9 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 165 points against them allowing 20.1 PPG. Their offense is averaging 494 YPG while their defense is allowing 306.3 YPG.

LSU vs Alabama Prediction

LSU is coming into this game as a 28.5 point underdog with the current betting odds according to Draftkings Sportsbook. LSU has not been playing well enough to win a lot of games this season but they are still playing hard and staying in all of their games keeping them somewhat close. They have not lost by 28 points or more in any of their conference games this season and they will surely play this game with a lot of heart. The players will want to finish the season well playing hard in every game knowing it will be their last season with head coach Ed Orgeron. Alabama is very good at number 3 in the rankings but they have not been winning their conference games by a lot of points and have only won 1 game by more than 28 points and it was against a bad Mississippi State team. The best bet to place in this game is on Alabama to cover the spread here as LSU will keep this game closer than that.
