Season Record

Pacers: 9-12, 13th place Eastern Conference
Timberwolves: 10-10, 7th place Western Conference

The Indiana Pacers have been floundering all season.  They are on a two-game losing streak to the Los Angeles Lakers (in overtime) and the Toronto Raptors. They are playing the Milwaukee Bucks as I write this sentence…  They are down by 8 points early in the second quarter.  Health has not been on the Pacers side this NBA season.  They were missing Caris LeVert early on and  they missed a few games of Malcolm Brogdon… but everyone is healthy now.  Things should start moving in a positive direction, unless they aren’t a good team.

The Timberwolves are .500 after the first 20 regular season games and find themselves in 7th place in the Western Conference.  Wow!  That’s a big improvement for the Timberwolves!  They beat the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday night in overtime 121-120…. They lost to the Charlotte Hornets the night before (Friday)... but prior to that they were on a 5 game win streak… They have officially won 6 of their last 7 games!  The thing to watch for is during the 5-game win streak young star SF Anthony Edwards overtook C Karl-Anthony Towns as the team’s leading scorer… Then during the loss to the Charlotte Hornets Towns took it back.  If anyone on the coaching staff is paying attention they should increase Anthony Edwards usage rate and see if they aren’t hiding a winning team behind Towns.

Indiana Pacers vs Minnesota Timberwolves Preview and Analysis

Recent Form

The Pacers are 9-12 on the season, but 11-10 ATS.  They have logged 8 Overs and 13 Unders.  They are a solid defensive team with Myles Turner guarding the rim.  They don’t win more than they lose, but they do keep it close.  The Pacers are 3-9 in road games.

The Timberwolves are 10-10 on the season and 10-10 ATS.  They have notched 8 Overs and 12 Unders.  They are .500 everywhere it seems as they are 6-6 in home games (applies to this game) and 4-4 in road games.

Offensive Analysis

The Pacers are 14th in points per game with 108, 8th in rebounds per game with 46.5, and 16th in AST/TO ratio with 1.6.  They are first in one category and that is defensive… They block 6.6 shots per game for 1st in the NBA.

The Timberwolves are 13th in points per game with 108.5, 12th in rebounds with 46.2 per game, 25th in AST/TO ratio with 1.4…. And hold onto your hats… 2nd in the NBA in blocked shots with 6.3 per game.

Indiana Pacers vs Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction

Our prediction for Monday, November 29th is…. Timberwolves 110 - Pacers 105

These two teams are desperately close in many of the important statistical categories.  The big difference is the Pacers have been terrible on the road all season long.  The bet is for the T-Wolves to win on the moneyline and you should have 5 points of wiggle room to reassure you against the PK spread.

Coach
Pacers: Rick Carlisle.  Coach Carlisle was with the Dallas Mavericks last season and was pushed out by Mark Cuban in favor of Jason Kidd.  Coach Carlisle didn’t sweat it, he just went back to the Indiana Pacers where he coached before the Mave.  He’s a solid coach.  He will need a lot of creative help from the GM to get him a better roster.

Timberwolves: Chris Finch.  Coach Finch has it pretty easy right now.  The Timberwolves always lose so he won’t have to defend his job for a few seasons… Then either the owner or GM will throw him under the bus and fire him.  Such is the NBA franchise in Minnesota.  The bright spot is young super star SF Anthony Edwards… The Pacers need to move him to the shooting guard spot to fully utilize him, but whatever, it's Minny!
