- Teams down 0-2 in the first round of the NBA playoffs are now 21-12 ATS since 1997 in Game 3 after two of three hosts won last night. Most of those ATS wins are against favorite lines larger than tonight’s spread in Phoenix for the Suns. Phoenix entered this series favored due to recent dominance head-to-head, but Minnesota has turned in two convincing wins in Minneapolis. The Suns have lost Grayson Allen who was the league’s top 3-point shooter this season, but Phoenix will still be a bigger favorite in Game 3 than Minnesota was in the first two games of the series. Minnesota’s elite defense has shown up in this series holding the Suns to 95 and 93 points while Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns have not tried to do too much, spreading the ball around. The Suns did make appropriate adjustments in Game 2 after losing badly on the boards in Game 2, but the Suns also had 20 turnovers in a sloppy second half performance. Devin Booker has not shot well in this series while the frontcourt depth for Minnesota has put great pressure on Jusuf Nurkic. Frank Vogel still owns impressive playoff credentials, and the Suns have the playoff experience to climb back in this series. At the outset of this series the Game 3 price was projected to be much higher than tonight’s number and the Wolves have been a much less impressive team on the road this season and haven’t won in Phoenix since a late season game in 2021.
